Description: This winter Paddle and Trail introduces a new series of Wednesday night cross country ski and snowshoe races for skiers of all abilities. Immersed in genius inventor Rodney Copperbottom's machine-populated world, visitors assemble their own "Wonder -bot" and take a virtual tour of robot vehicles. This adventure goes beyond Hollywood as "reel" turns "real" with current and future applications of robotics in science and society. Students get riveted by science and mathematics as they design a robot probe for Mars, deep space, or ocean exploration; and program a robotic arm just like the ones used by Ford Motor Company. Visitors can pick up the remote to control a variety of different types of robots and glimpse the companies and machines that are shaping the future.

Description: Because of the mild winter weather, Tinker Swiss Cottage is opening a month early for general admission tours, offered Tuesday through Sunday at 1pm and 3 PM. All tours are guided. Group tours are welcome and reservations may be made for eight or more visitors to tour the Cottage on any day and at a time convenient to the group. The Reservations will need to be made at least 24 hours before the tour. All tours start at the Visitor's Center, which is a re-creation of the Tinker family barn. The Museum is closed for tours on Mondays.

The first and second place winners of this competition advance to Illinois' State Competition on March 29 in Springfield. The State champion advances to the National Finals on May 13-15 in Washington, DC, where $50,000 in awards and school stipends will be distributed. The competition, presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation in partnership with the Illinois Arts Council, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition.

Description: 21 and over it's your turn to Play. The Discovery Center Museum and its exhibits will be open after dark along with Totally 80s Fun! Spray your big hair and pull up your leg warmers because Discovery Center is going back to the 80s. Lots of additional fun provided by local partners Octane Interlounge, Rockford Dance Company and more. 80s attire is encouraged but not required. The first 400 people through the door that evening will receive a snap bracelet. "Robots: the Interactive Exhibition" is included with admission to Discovery After Dark.
